Java is still a Pita generally though.  Well worth avioding if you can.  

New branches are still more about fancy new features and better compatibility at the expense of 
stability = but i wouldn't want to change that.  It's good to have the choice.

Glad to hear you sorted your issue out nicely tho!  Congrats! :)
