I solved the problem following the advise of the first answer (save the 
document as .doc) and it is readable in LO,OO and Word.
If you think it can be useful I can post a bug-report

As a work-around ... If you still have OpenOffice on your machine then it might be good to just 
copy&paste the table from one copy of the rtf into the next version of the rtf & perhaps everything 
after the table too if it's still corrupted.
