Hi :)
Yes, ODF is the generic name covering all the different formats used by the different
modules/applications/parts of LibreOffice. That becomes
Odt for word-processed documents because word-processing is traditionally mostly about formatted
text
Ods for spreadsheet
Odp for presentations
Fairly consistent with each other.
Regards from
Tom :)

The attached presentation--which I received from a friend--seems to run better--without any
setup--with PowerPoint than with Presentation. Any idea why?

Because it makes sense? PowerPoint has its native format that it uses. Unless licensed by MS,
no one else uses PowerPoint's native format. That means, PowerPoint will run the slide presentation
better than other programs. They have only limited ability to read PP's files.
Impress uses ODF (open document format) as its native format. Similarly, MS has only developed
limited ability to read this format. Consequently, a slide show created using Impress and the ODF
native format runs better on Impress than it would on PowerPoint.
