When you find and select the merged cells i think that option changes from "Merge cells" to 
"unmerge cells".  Any chance of uploading the file to Nabble?  If it's confidential then don't as 
this is a public mailing-list.

  How do I identify what cells have been merged? I see none. And, once
identified do I unmerge them by putting the cursor in one of the cells and
selecting Edit -> Merge cells?
