What he was looking for was an Australian dictionary that included the
thesaurus, and such.
That dictionary is not currently on the LO Extension Center.
The key for why most of the dictionaries on the LibreOffice-NA.US site
dictionary page[s] are not on the Extension Center list, is simple. The
Extension Center requires the author of the dictionary to apply to the
list for their dictionary to be part of it. On the LibreOffice-NA.US
[North American Community DVD project] dictionary page[s] ALL of the
known dictionaries were placed on that list. The dictionaries were
found on many sources, or upgraded from their creators. The issue of
the Extension Center is the simple fact that it looks like many of the
dictionary authors are either unknown or unreachable. They have set up
their inclusion process for legal reasons or some other reason that will
indicate to the admin of the "Center" that the extension file author is
stating that this file is free to use and distribute.
As for the different DVD projects, vs. the official LO centers for
extension and templates; well we all have our own ways of doing things.
Each project is geared to the needs of the author and its community.
LO's Extension Center gives much more than a list of file that are
available for download. The LibreOffice-NA.US site "online version" of
their DVD wanted a simpler web-based system where you could browse the
files via the HTML pages or [with the DVD media] browse the DVD itself
with a file manager.
I have asked the TDF/LO people to look into how they can add the
dictionaries if the creators are no longer supporting their work AND/or
are unreachable. I created American[en_US], British[en_GB], and
Canadian[en_CA] English dictionaries to fit a niche where there was a
need for on that had Thesaurus, Hyphenation, plus a Spell Checking word
list of a large size [up to 638K+ words]. Others have created their own
dictionaries to fit their local niche. I support anyone's efforts to
create a dictionary for their language needs. It would be great to have
more of them.
The LibreOffice North American Community DVD project's 3.4.4 online
version of the DVD is at the following URL. The link that was listed in
the original posting was for the 3.3.4 installs, instead of the 3.4.x
line of installs. I keep the 3.4.x version up-to-date first.

The 3.6 Gig .iso file for that DVD is at the following link.

Hi :)
+1
It would be great if the website list knew and recognised the various Dvd projects. The dictionaries you found are also on the Extensions site so i would be good to have something pointing to there too i guess.
Nicely found! It's not easy to find this sort of thing at the moment!
Congrats and regards from
Tom :)

Using LibreOffice on Ubuntu.
I tried to install an Australian Dictionary as no spellcheck or thesaurus
was available.
The LibreOffice instructions for 'Install the required dictionaries',
Chapter 2 Setting up writer directs the user to get more dictionaries online
at this webaddress:
http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center?getCategories=Dictionary
http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center?getCategories=Dictionary
I could not find the dictionaries I needed here, but after some more
searching found them here:
http://libreoffice-na.us/English/dictionary.html
http://libreoffice-na.us/English/dictionary.html
It would be great if the 'get dictionaries online' site could include all of
these other dictionaries as well.
