regards,

While it's a good idea to do a full parallel install, it's not necessary
in this case. The OP has LO 3.3 from his package manager, so all that he
actually needs to do is download the .deb packages, extract, install,
and before starting LO, modify the bootstraprc script to reflect a
different profile location. This is what I use for 3.4:

$ cat /opt/libreoffice3.4/program/bootstraprc
[Bootstrap]
BaseInstallation=${OOO_BASE_DIR}
InstallMode=<installmode>
ProductKey=LibreOffice 3.4
UserInstallation=$SYSUSERCONFIG/.libreoffice3.4/3
[ErrorReport]
ErrorReportPort=80
ErrorReportServer=

$ gksu gedit /opt/libreoffice3.4/program/bootstraprc
will do the job if on GNOME, kdsdudo & whatever KDE uses in place of
gedit will do the same.

Note that I've modified the profile location to '/.libreoffice3.4/3'.
That way the 3.4 profile won't interfere with the Ubuntu default of
'/.libreoffice/3'. I use "3.4" as I also have other LO versions
installed in /opt (3.3 etc).

Can you install 3.4 alongside 3.3 in Linux (Ubuntu 11.04 in my case). I
don't
want to purge 3.3 until I am sure 3.4 works.
