Errr, which release of Ubuntu?  I'm not sure about 11.04 or 11.10 but the
10.04 and 10.10 (by default (or the "classic DE" on more recent ones) go to
the top-taskbar and click on

Applications - Office - Math

It 'should' be about the same in most OSes.  Ones using the Gnome DE
'should' find it exactly like that.  Is it missing?  If you right-click on
that menu does it allow you to edit the menu?  Is it lurking unticked in
