I would save as XLS since that works when you need it to and the XLSX doesn't. All users of Office
2007 can open XLS files. (The use of Office 2007 to open an ODS from *Office Calc is generally not
useful, since Office 2007 loses the formulas.)
You might want to ensure that there are no problems in the XLS more serious than frozen-pane
preservation, of course.

PA: You can also save in two forms of course, as Sigrid Carrera suggests.

Subject: [libreoffice-users] RE: How to save spreadsheet with frozen rows
Hello Dennis. Thanks for your reply. I am using LO V3.3.3 and Windows Vista
32 bit.
I have tried the following options with some success when I make changes to
the spreadsheet.
1. Save as xlsx (Office 2007). The frozen rows do not save.
2. Save as xls (Office XP). The frozen rows save OK.
3. Save as scx. The frozen rows save OK.
4. Save as ods. The frozen rows save OK.
Which saving option would recommend for spreadsheets as I sometimes email
spreadsheets to others who use Microsoft Office 2007?
