Ahh, that explains how the writer got the wrong impression.  I thought it was 
people in higher-up positions such as "Head of Marketting" type of positions but 
by then Oracle seemed to be doing quite a lot of strange things to try to kill 
their product and any of the goodwill that might have built-up over the years.  
It took Oracle ages to react to the TDF founders splitting off though.

Several people were forced to resign their positions in the OOo
community, when they stated that they supported TDF and LibO.

I don't know if any developers were specifically caught up in that
series of terminations that violated the spirit and language of OOo
