This is how text processors should be used, though.
Always displaying non-printing characters help knowing exactly what was
entered and where.
But I can definitely see the argument for having a distinction between
'All non-printing characters' and 'TEXT marked 'Non-Printing''...
Seems to me like a good enhancement request to me...
