Hi :)

I am on 10.04 and just uninstalled OpenOffice and found LibreOffice in the
repos. I tend to prefer Synaptic Package Manager rather than the Software
Centre. Are you still having trouble installing LibreOffice? Shall i try to
find out how i installed it?
Regards from
Tom :)

Thanks to all who answered. I should have said it was 10.04, and therefore
presumably one version too early!

I'll follow the instructions you have so generously provided and update to LO.

Depends on your version. For Maverick and earlier, it's not (AFIK) in the
repos...still using OO. For Natty, I believe the change has already been made to
LO, but, for sure, it's been announced that LO will be in the final release.

For now, down load the LO package for your processor (32/64 bit) from the LO
site, remove OO packages via Synaptic or the Software Centre, unpack the LO file
to a temp directory and install via dpkg (sudo dpkg -i <path-to-LO-debs>/*.deb).
All of the program debs are found in the DEBS directory, but there is also a deb
file in the DEBS/desktop-integration directory that creates menu entries for
you.

You may have to kill your OO config directory if you problems starting LO after
upgrading.

Have fun.
