[libreoffice-users] spell checking and mixing extensions

Is spell checking broken in LO? 

I've also tried OO and it works the same; meaning its spell checker also
fails.

 

I deliberately put in a misspelled word and it didn't get the squeegly red
line.

I deliberately ran the spell checker and it says all is well but the
language field it blank.

The first time I tried to run it the language field said German so I
switched it to English.

Do I need to do something extra to make spell checking work?

 

I checked the extensions and all seems well there. 

NOTE that there are some links in the help and Extension Manager that link
to OO.org

Is it Ok to mix extensions from OO into LO?
