Or, since you need to do some of this in a terminal window anyway,
from the command line:
cd<directory containing the tar.gz file>
tar xzvf<tar.gz file>
tar -xzvf <tar.gz file>
cd LibO_3<tab> [or fill in the complete name manually]
cd DEBS
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
cd desktop<tab>
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
And that's it.
Interesting technique I always use is written down here:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Run_OOo_versions_parallel
That allows me to run as much offices as I like.
Best,
Cor
