I am adding this suggestion from Michael Bauer as a funding wishlist item:

* Run LO surgeries

We've discovered with our language that the "majority" just use their
computers out of the box, whether it's Microsoft or Mac, and are often
reluctant to install or uninstall stuff. Even when they know a tool
exists, uptake can be real slow but bizarrely, when you organize
surgeries where people can bring their laptops, macbooks, tablets,
phones etc and you show them what's there and how to install it and how
it works, they're a lot more enthusiastic.

In our case we target Gaelic-medium schools, in particular the parents
and teachers. That might not work for every language but I just wanted
to float the concept of more face-to-face to help people off their
shop-bought systems. Perhaps even a chance to team up with Mozilla and a
few others to offer a more rounded palette, rather than just LO. We
normally present "the lot".

I am updating the Funding Priorities wiki page. I will NOT be adding this as it doesn't seem to involved any funding costs, and, unless someone says otherwise OR decides to take a lead on this (if it is approved for funding) I will drop it from the list.

Cheers,

Marc
