indeed, this is one of the top requests we receive, telling what we need
the money for and what exactly it will be spent on.

Some of you may know that, about one week ago, German Heise publisher
posted our donation request to its newsticker, which resulted in
approximately 10.000 € (!) of additional donations. It was clearly
visible that the donations are tied to this report, and they went back
to "normal" as soon as the news vanished.

So, what we definitely also should work on is to get the word out to
major IT and non-IT media. I am convinced that this can give donations a
big boost.

Florian

I think we would also get more donations if people knew that we are having
to upgrade our infrastructure due to the large increase in demand from
project users and downloaders. If we could blog about it and pass it along
to the media we may get a little more traction with this.

A good location is the LinuxToday.com site. The last time I read up on its
readership, they were getting around 1 million readers a day. Their
coverage of the Linux sphere is quite good.

Cheers,

Marc

I think we need a sustainable financial source like what Mozilla do with
Google.

I was thinking about some thing like a feature that help us to integrate
with Google services like GoogleDocs.

Can we get the similar help from the Red Hat , Novel and Canonical in
addition to the developer contribution we already have?
It would be really great if we could have considerable budget for
Marketing/PR, and other work other than the infrastructure.

Even I propose to have a massage on the LibreOffice installer itself "We
are non-profit,... etc etc" and "Would you like to donate up?"

Best Regards,
