Hi :) It's worth having a look at some of the other ideas on the page https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Marketing/Slogan For English i like the "Freedom never tasted so Suite" since Sweet and Suite sound almost identical. I cannot imagine it working in any other language tho. I think the idea of ""Open" doors" probably translates better? Probably depends on which language and culture? Druzhshchienschkyj <volodymyrsway@gmail.com> Subject: RE: [libreoffice-marketing] Marketing slogan To: marketing@global.libreoffice.org Date: Friday, 25 November, 2011, 7:40 Hello Anant and Tom: I was thinking about what had been proposed with the different variations. What about considering the following: 1. LibreOffice: Your Open Door to Creativity! The reason I used the pronoun "Your" is that it personalizes the statement and directs it to the reader. "Open Door" is good from before since it leads the reader to the fact there is some alternative waiting for them. "Creativity" is a good choice for this. The part with which I was struggling is whether or not to add another "Your" to this slogan with "LibreOffice: Your Open Door to Your Creativity!" This focuses the personalization even more, but it may be too long. 2. LibreOffice: Open Your Door to Creativity! This has the advantage of having an action verb as an implied call to action with the first word with the following focus directed at the reader with the pronoun "Your". I can not see whether or not another "Your" would be more effective as with "LibreOffice: Open Your Door to Your Creativity!", or "LibreOffice: Opening Your Door to Creativity!", or "LibreOffice: Your Opening Door to Creativity!" The last one seems to fit, but it is late. The suggestion of using some slogan as part of a joint marketing effort is excellent as it will give synergy and relate the concept that this is part of a large set of solutions. Any thoughts? thanks for reply. i am really happy that you liked it. i really liked your first suggestion "LibreOffice - "Open" a door to creativity." it sound stylish and does reflect principles of libre office. speaking about voting, you are right there should be one. Isn't there any voting plugin available for wiki pages and anyway wiki i personally feel are good for documentation and creating article but not for collaboration. i think Jooomla or drupal is much better and plugins can be developed. in joomla/ drupal content can be arrenged in much better way, moreover it also has good editor while editing articles. in wiki one should know HTML to edit it. Said cause i felt. :) i have a request: it will be very kind of you if you can add a page in main menu where we can post new marketing ideas or suggestion or anything we want either in office or on wiki. i hope you got what i am saying. i am new to wiki and i feels scary to me. just words, words and more words. waiting for reply. have a nice day. :) On 24 November 2011 16:20, Tom Davies <tomdavies04@yahoo.co.uk> wrote:Hi :) Thanks :) Nicely done :) Someone has already added a new one after yours! I like yours. I wish there was some sort of voting system that took into account how long a suggestion had been up there. We talked about it ages ago but things were a bit hectic back then! Soemthing else we talked about was having different lists for different languages because sometimes translations lose the advantages of word-play and stuff while also missing opportunities that other languages offer. I'm not sure how well that all went. I was thinking your slogan might be tweaked to "LibreOffice - "Open" a door to creativity." or "LibreOffice - "Open" another door to creativity." I'm not sure. Notice that i haven't written any slogans myself as it's not something i'm good at. Your suggestion would also suit Gimp and Firefox (amongst others) so perhaps part of a joint marketing strategy with them? Remember that it's always possible for people to undo your edits if they need to. It is polite to ask first as you did so thanks for that :) Typically i would just editandthen let the relevant lists giving them a clickable link to the page. In this particular case it might be good to also just write the sloganinthe email to the list. The lists are archived so it's possible to hunt through threads but the wiki is the easiest place to look things upafter aconversation has finished.
