I have just heard from someone that has been working on Base but is not subscribed to this list.

The Base ideas are moving forward. I can connect easily to
Mariadb/MySQL from Base using the JBDC driver. I am still working on
the ODBC driver.



From studying PostgreSQL and Mariadb/MySQL, PostgreSQL appears to have
more features beyond the SQL language definition (1999), closer to MS
SQL Server 2008 extensions. I use SQL Server at work.



A survey, if we reach the right group, would be useful. Most would
probably want features similar to MS Access, particularly the Forms and
Reports. The standard database does not directly generate reports or
has an data entry form. Those are created per customer/local
requirements often using other tools.
