Hello again

Last year, I asked why the translation of "LibreOffice Online" is continually locked, and I
received a good answer by Tuomas Hietala. By that time, "LibreOffice Online" was the one set of
strings in the Danish translation that seemed like it would be easy to close with 100% before
turning to the other sets, which needed far more work...

By now, the situation is reversed. Similar to several other national projects (e.g., the Dutch,
Norwegian (both dialects), and Polish projects), the LibreOffice Online strings being locked is the
only set NOT being at 100%, thereby keeping the whole language stuck at 99% translation. It also
makes it a bit harder to see when it is time to get to work again: Quite a few new strings can be
added to the other sets before the percentage changes. Sure, this is a luxury problem (even if
there is hard work behind the luxury), but still a bit annoying 😊

Given the initial answer, I guess that a suggestion to open the translation of LibreOffice Online
for a limited period (e.g., a month), to allow finishing it off for those national projects where
it is close to completion, will not be considered a good idea... (?)

I notice, however, that LibreOffice Online is not shown at all for newer translations. For
instance, Tagalog (which has come close to full translation admirably fast) does not include the
LibreOffice online set of strings. Would it be possible to hide the LibreOffice Online strings from
ALL national projects, as long as the project is continually locked? Of course, without deleting
the work that has been done - if one day the LibreOffice Online project is revived, the hidden
strings should come back, allowing translators to continue from the present stage.

Just a hopeful suggestion.

Best regards,
Lars Jødal

Hello Tuomas

Thanks for the answer. I see that the answer to a localisation question (basically: How can I
finish this very manageable-sized translation project?) quickly takes a quite different direction.
I prefer fireworks of the celebrating type, so I'll leave it here :-)

Best regards,
Lars Jødal

Hello Lars,

The LibreOffice Online project on Weblate was locked in 2020 following the decision of the Board of
Directors of TDF. This was after the source code repositories were locked, also decided by the BoD.

As to why the decision to freeze the development of LibreOffice Online was taken, you can try to
ask on the Board Discuss forum and watch the fireworks. I'd keep that discussion off this mailing
list, though, as it doesn't concern localisation specifically.

Best regards,
Tuomas Hietala

Hello

In Weblate, one of the projects is "LibreOffice Online". I am not
aware of the status of LibreOffice Online, but I see that it is an
existing project with 900 assigned strings. However, for quite a few
months, the translation has been locked. Is there a reason for the
translation project to exist in a locked state for so long?

Best regards,
Lars Jødal
