Hello
As a relatively new user of Weblate, I want to say thank you for the reception in the project by
sharing some ideas and tips I have gathered by now (partly from Sophie, partly from my own
experiences).
"Zen mode" gives a view that focuses on the current list of translations, while some extra
information is not shown. It can give a better overview, but does not show the information used in
the tips below.
At the right side of the screen is a Glossary window. The glossary list is a list of English
words/phrases along with translations in the language worked upon. When you work on a string to
translate, the Glossary window will show words/phrases from the string found in the glossary list,
along with the translations from the list. This can help to be consistent in translation. New
glossaries can be added with "Add term to glossary" (the term will be the current string, but can
be edited before saving).
Below the Glossary window is a String information window. In this window you can find a link
"Source string location". The link opens a new window that shows the source code where the string
appears. This can help give the context of the string.
Under the current string, the button "Other languages" will display a list of how the string is
translated in other supported languages. If you (to some extend) understand one or more of the
other languages, it may give you inspiration for translation to your own language. This can be
especially helpful if a language close to your own is farther in translation than your own language.
These ideas have been helpful for me. Perhaps they can be helpful for others, too.
Regards,
Lars
