Hi!

Sophie kirjoitti 2016-09-29 18:53:
Following-up on a issue that was open because accents in Formula names
in some languages, would it be problematic for your language if we set
as a rule to not put any sign in Formula names but the dot (dot) as in
en_US?

I'm basically fine with removing other separator characters. However for
Finnish this needs to be a manual change (not scripted) because we have
one case where underscore character is used so that there are
two versions of the same function: another with dot and another
with underscore: HYPERGEOM_JAKAUMA and HYPERGEOM.JAKAUMA. This messy
situation (caused by trying to be compatible with translated names
in some old version of Excel) needs to be dealt with first.

Would that be too difficult because there is no corresponding meaning
without? For FR for example, we decided to remove them but that doesn't
change the meaning of the word and it's often that capitals are not
accentuated, so people are already used to read them.

Accented characters Ä and Ö should be allowed for Finnish. They are
also used in formula names in Finnish version of Excel. I fear that
removing them would simply be considered a regression by most users.

Thanks for asking feedback!

Harri
