Three thoughts:

Check if there was a partial translation of Kyrgyz on the old OO project (you can get the sdf files here https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/ooo/trunk/extras/l10n/source/) but at a quick glance, there doesn't seem to be anything.

It might make sense to team up with someone and do both Cyrillic and Arabic script versions at the same time, otherwise you end up with twice the amount of work and variant terminology. Unless there are (the scripts aside) different standards.

And lastly, remind him that he can display other source languages in Pootle so it might make sense for him to display Kazakh (seems 60% done) and Chinese (100%) alongside English.

All the best!

Michael

Perhaps the easiest way to start localizing LibO is to use Pootle (https://translations.documentfoundation.org/). I (or anyone else with admin rights) can bootstrap ky-CN there. Should we do that?
