One more aspect: perhaps I'm just unlucky, but on average, I found cgit
to load much faster than these git.libreoffice.org links. Random
example:

$ time curl -L 'https://git.libreoffice.org/core/+/a54230f3211f19290c4d2ac26b3084fc0a0eeab5%5E!/'
...
real    0m20,420s

$ time curl -L 
'https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=a54230f3211f19290c4d2ac26b3084fc0a0eeab5'
...
real    0m1,381s
