Hi Markus,
I understand your concerns.
IMHO cmake is more portable than autoconf, and even much more simpler to use!
If you need help, I am willing to try my best.
I see not the need to support autoconf and cmake. I would terminate the autconf support.
Kind regards
Claus

I'm a bit concerned about having two build systems especially one that I can not maintain. In the
past we solved this with the cmake branch but this also causes its own problems as the branch is
constantly behind. Currently I have no good idea how to solve this problem but I'll try to spend
some time thinking about solutions. I plan to release a new version 1.15.0 sometime in June and
will get back to with some plan by then.
Kind regards,
Markus
