Turns out, the relevant GCC switches are
-mfpmath=sse -msse2
On this basis I ran
make clean && make ENVCFLAGS="-mfpmath=sse -msse2"
ENVCFLAGSCXX="-mfpmath=sse -msse2" && make sc.check
The compile and tests all completed successfully on an up to date 32-bit
Lubuntu 14.04 and 32-bit Slackware-Current from November 2015. I haven't
pulled any new code since 1st September so haven't inadvertently picked up
the work around.
but also not the mod.fods or other test files...
Can you try whether this also works if you checkout current master and
just change the line
ifneq ($(PLATFORMID),linux_x86)
to
ifneq ($(PLATFORMID),linux_x86foobar)
in sc/Module_sc.mk to enable the test (disable skipping of the tests)?
Good news and thank you! Interestingly you also didn't encounter
a failure with sc/qa/unit/data/functions/fods/mod.fods which one of our
tinderbox builds had a problem with.
yeah, however now prompted to look at git log, it likely is a
unrelated problem, as the revert of the file already happened in July
with 9dc3356f1499a2b90078be86ca7470eb2e96aba8
so when you reintroduced that, you maybe got a little too far back in time :-)
unfortunately the commit doesn't mention *why* the document was
removed (maybe because it spammed people because of the failure on
32bit....)
There even is a comment on the initial gerrit changeset that added
the file, mentioning it got reverted, but also doesn't list a reason
there.
@Cloph:
Was that reproducible, any insights inspecting the document on that
platform?
Needed the box for the release builds, so no further insight right
now, but should have another build tomorrow..
But if Alex' tree really is from September 1st, then it doesn't have
the test files - you did revert the removal of the testfiles on Sept
16, but removed them already mid August...
So unfortunately Alex' result are non-telling, as the problematic test
files are not part of the checkout then.
ciao
