The 'build' target includes tests. Try the 'build-nocheck' target.

BTW, the output of 'make help' says,

AVAILABLE TARGETS
       all              build product and run unit tests (default goal)
       build            build product
       ...

which implies that 'build = all - unittests'.  No mention is make of
'build-nocheck' at all.
