[Libreoffice] document shortcut-choise

Gentlemen.
I'm a newbe in this forum. I have 300 users on Libre Ofice in 2 schools. We have to set up the Writer and Calc to save in Microsoft Office 2003 file format.
Problem:
Too many right click the desktop choosing New|OpenDocument Text and believe they will open a .doc or .xls file.
Is it somhow possible to make the described shortcut to mirror the file format set up in the "Save always as:" list?
