2/ would be much more useful to other people that run into that very
same problem, searching an answer in the ML archive :-)

on a side note:

You did actually identify the problem and a solution from the
beginning. Another way to get stuff more/faster attention would have
been to attach a proposed patch to fix it and add [PATCH] in the
subject line.

hmm, I knew about this problem because it was mentioned on irc
(probably by Tom) and did nothing.
It's also my fault. But almost nothing wrong happened probably.
I just wanted to mention this.
