I've the same problem with this autogen on Ubuntu 10.04 64 too:

--without-junit
--enable-debug
--enable-symbols

Some more thoughts, this is the debug build, this may be
triggered by
_GLIBCXX_DEBUG in solenv, removing those and rm -rf
sal/unxlng* and a
rebuild could test that theory.

Your theory was right, I commented out all that concerns _GLIBCXX_DEBUG in
:
- sal/inc/unxgcc.mk
- sal/gbuild/platform/unxgcc.mk

Then remove sal/unxlng* and build again.
Everything is ok.
