short-name variant so far as you know. So we have to decide each of them

Well, we don't have to support short-hand names to begin with. As a
starter, we can simply convert all our current options to have the '--'
prefix, without defining any short-hand counterparts.
Agreed, that makes sense.

So I would like to follow your point that the "--" prefix would be employed for
all the rest of options if anyone has little urgent concern.
BTW how about the patch which starts this thread?
