I had the same problem. I used git to generate a patch file, and then
sent it in, and the email was much too long to be accepted, so I am
interested in how to do this as well.

Hello all,
First off, I very much hope this effort is successful in reducing barriers
to dev participation and in accelerating development.
I tried to send a patch earlier but it was rejected because my email was too
long. Should I be submitting patches some other way? Should I be making
changes in much smaller chunks?
I was trying to pick a couple of items off the 'easy tasks' list so nothing
exciting.
Thank you.
