I just added this comment to the bug report:
If you select some columns, you can use the context menu -> Size -> 
Distribute Columns Evenly do do that, It works even for some 
(contiguous) columns, not only for all.

In addition, I have some doubt that the use case is frequent enough to 
be worth the effort of implementing another way of doing the job.

I agree that looking at the help should be sufficient.
