Interesting idea, to have a small plus or cross instead of the current points to indicate the zoom level. This could probably solve one of the issues in https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107923. Otherwise please file a separate ticket - we do our main work in Bugzilla.
