I think it would be very useful if you instead provided a mockup, and
highlighted there what you think should be removed, and how does that
compare to rulers in applications where you like the rulers.

A picture is worth a thousands words ;-) - more so in visual design.

So please instead of several screenshots where it is unclear what is
actually a difference, can you please create one drawing with the
highlights, and some kind of competitive analysis? - highlight what is
better in the other rulers, etc.
