Maybe the flat icons could be included by default as an alternative icon set? I too would love to 
use those but integrating them is rather difficult and not documented.

Sorry to butt into this thread, but can anyone tell me where the OP got the icon set shown. I use 
the Windows version of LO and this icon set doesn't seem to be available. These icons are so much 
better than the cartoonish ones included with LO (even MSO2003 icons are better). Sorry if my 
opinion upsets, not meant to.
