(Sorry for posting this late, I just noticed it was in my drafts.)
Hi Mirek,
thanks for your feedback.
I worked on most of the issues and will continue doing so.
Great :)
"lc-outline icons, lc_incrementlevel, and lc_decrementlevel shouldn't
use navigation icons"
What do you mean by 'navigation icons'?
The icons that you use are used elsewhere in the UI (and in Gnome) to mean
"Back", "Forward", "Next", and "Previous", in other words, for navigation.
The icons I listed refer to actions on items -- they change an item's
hierarchical position ("Move left/right/up/down in hierarchy"). Because of
the different meaning, we should use a different icon (at least a different
arrow).
"- lc_autosum seems too sharp/thin, which doesn't really fit well with
Tango. What's wrong with the icon we have now?"
I made it a bit bolder. I used a sigma with serifs since most formulas
are set with them. IMHO the icon thus looks more familiar.
Alright.
"lc_paragraphdialog and lc_controlcodes both use the same Paragraph
symbol, yet they have nothing to do with each other."
Well, in one case the symbol stands for a paragraph and in the other
one it is an example of a control code.
Galaxy uses similar icons. What would you suggest?
The simplest change I can think of is making it a different color, with
less saturation to represent "non-printing", or perhaps the non-printing
character icon could feature two symbols instead of one.
"- lc_insertdraw uses a paintbrush symbol, which portrays painting
rather than drawing. We might think about using a pencil or a pen
instead."
A pencil would be good. LibreOffice's human icon theme contains an icon
for switching between editing and just viewing, which is also the icon
for gedit in Ubuntu's and elementary's icon themes. IMHO it would be
nice if we could use icons from the human/ elementary icon theme for
better integration.
Do you know whether I could simply copy icons from
/icon-themes/human/cmd and add the authors to the credits file?
On a related note: There are some Gnome icons which looks rather dull
and have nice elementary (GNU GPL v3) equivalents.
Would it be possible to include some of them? Crediting the author, of
course?
I don't think so, since LibO is moving to MPL, which would allow it to
choose between the GPL, LGPL, and AGPL depending on context. My
interpretation is that it means that we could use the icons when we opt for
the GPL, but not always when we opt for the LGPL or AGPL. I'm not sure,
though -- better ask someone more knowledgeable.
Even if it would be possible to use these icons, we would have to deal with
yet another icon license, so it's probably something to avoid.
Ubuntu's icon theme is just a derivative of elementary's, so I assume it's
GPL as well.
