Hi Cedric,

thanks for your mail.

With my mail I wanted to express, that we miss long term decissions of
direction, user research, vision and that sort of things. I can immedeately
create a couple of solutions for the problem - just in LO we miss a strategy
to keep making decissions in the same direction. So thanks for your answers -
I can understand them from your point of view (and expected them to be as they
are), but this mail was rather meant as a: "see this is a problem of the kind
I was adressing at the conference" to the members of the design team - than a:
Cederic, please give me some answers :)

Or put it an other way: my mail was not meant to be constructive in the search
for a solution for the actual question you raised, but for a discussion we
need to lead within the design team (at least I think we need to lead this
discussion :))

Thanks anyhow,
Björn

The UI component of an Check-In / Check-Out process obviously is extremely
limited. A button, perhaps a dialogue, when you open a file, but it really
depends on where we want to go in general to decide how to do it:

- How do we handle features that are only of use for users in a special
(in
this case a multiple user) environment?

- How important are users that need these kind of feature for the product

Well, those may be pretty important as it's enterprise users.

- How important is this feature relative to other features for the people
that will actually use it (e.g. does it substitute the normal file open
dialogue for them or does it need to be a seperate use-case?)

It shouldn't substitute de normal save dialog, as this is just saving
some kinds of documents in a different way (you don't even need to input
a place to save to).
