Hi Iain,
I've contacted your mentor about working together with the LibreOffice
design team on designing the GUI for the LibreOffice viewer for Android
[1], but I've neglected to contact you, for which I apologize.
Would you be interested in working with us?
That's fine, Mirek, I'd be happy to work with you and the design team.
We already have two whiteboards set up for the purpose, one for the file
manager portion of the app [2] and one for the file viewer [3]. If you'd
like to work with us, could you check the Scope on these whiteboards and
tweak it according to what features you plan to implement and what
limitations may be posed?
Regarding scope, what has been suggested is in line with what I hope to
achieve. It seems that everyone agrees that editing would be a great
feature and should be planned for but realises that it poses more
challenges than viewing from both a design and development perspective.
I've subscribed to the ux-advise list but I should mention that I'm in the
middle of my final exams in university so if you don't hear as much as
you'd like from me between now and the 18th of May that's why...
Thanks. :)
