Sorry I'm very busy these times, but speedy I give you my two cents :

I hate Tango (it's horrible, really) but I thought we decided it would be
it our "favorite" icon theme. it's the freedesktop one it's seems normal to
use it, until we have the flat icon set (which will be, I think, really
better). If icons are missing, we decided we should propose them upstram (
http://tango.freedesktop.org/) correct me if I'm wrong.

 Hello, all

I think the icons problem must be addressed comprehensively.
Images sourses should be divided into two groups: the icons for the
toolbars and icons for File Manager (Linux; OS-X; Windows and "LibreOffice

Open"). The toolbar's icon consider it's duty to give the best
identification of the action with the smaller size of the file. Icons for
the File Manager must comply with the operating system and can be of any
weight and enlarged. This solution is used by the Opera Community.
For example, I delete the extra pages of icons and unnecessary icons from
soffice.bin (file size - 92 KB but now - 670 KB) and use an additional
library "loicons.dll" for the Windows Explorer (not loaded at startup
LibreOffice) and "images_classic.zip" (for Windows; several [~20] icons
that
are required of Linux only and  uninstalled languages folders are removed;
the size is ~1.43 MB vs. ~2.4 MB at the Tango). This reduces startup time
and reduces the load on the CPU and GPU, which is much on low-end computers
and netbooks. But this is an optimization for
LibreOffice_3.5(.6)_Win_ENU-RU
only.
I think that this is not implemented in The Document Foundation because
the
original LibreOffice requires the averaged solution for different operating
systems.
That is why I think, that Designer's Team may to concentrate efforts on a
single theme design, which will become the Brand. The Tango or Human can
used as start point this idea. Other themes can be moved to "accessories -
skins" and add the item "Get skins" at future times.
