2011/6/23 Astron <heinzlesspam@googlemail.com>:
Hi,
I found the page number next to every page so useful that I
immediately opened a bug for it, I hope this was not completely
uncalled for, anyway, the bug is here:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38597 .
Otherwise I am a bit unsure if it really is enough to show a single
toolbar at a time, it could work though, if the default toolbar is
well configured. I really like the minimalist style.
Astron.
Which page number? The "physical" page number, the "printed" page number,
both?
I'd prefer the "physical" page number.
It wouldn't be very logical to show just the printed page number, because,
by default, pages don't even have printed page numbers. And if they do have
printed page numbers, it's very possible that one group of pages goes up to
a number and then numbering is restarted. Thus, LibO could label several
pages with the same page number, which would very likely confuse the user.
As for showing both, I think that would make the page number take up too
much space and be too much of a distraction. Imagine seeing "22 (12)" next
to a page. It also takes more time to decipher which one of these is the
physical page number and which is the printed one.
As the printed page number appears somewhere on the page anyway, there's no
need to show it another time next to the page.
At least on Writer it is quite common that page 1 is the "physical"
page 7, for example.
I vote for "both" ;)
Cheers
Ricardo
