Hi Mike!
I'm avid to know your ideas. But if you think it's better to refine them
before publishe them, I support this decision. And please don't leave to
share your learning about the LibO's UI System, I'm very interested too. :D
Yeas, I think most of visual changes must be done gradually to make sure
that savvy users will not lost the control feeling on the UI.

Hi Paulo,
your arrival is realy promising. I'm myself on this list about a month I think.
I have some ideas for Libreoffice which I will first talk with Christoph on Fosdem about, because
apperently there is a big big system behind it, which I don't know yet.
But You are the men.
But anyway:
I think that your knowledge in UX. This Knowledge and enthuisasm could provide us with a hole new
better and improved UI System for Libreoffice.
If anyone out there thinks now, that noooooo don't change anything or there are some people who
like the actual UI.... Yes I am aware of this ;)
If anyone wants to know more about my idea, I would be please to talk to him. But I think for the
Mailinglist I need to work on it a little bit more and talk to Christoph.

Hi! My name is Paulo José, 20. I'm a Brazilian Computer Science student and I've been an art lover
along all my life.
In last days I've discovered many new possibilities about the LibreOffice world. In january 17 I
published some very basic mock-ups on DeviantArt website [1]; they show how I imagined the
LibreOffice's UI could be. Then these mockups was posted by some interesting blogs [2] about Linux
related news and it has very cool and exciting. I also met some people who have nice ideas too and
even serious projects, like Citrus UI [3].
And now I'm very excitet to be here in this maillist, thanks to Berhnard Dippold and Christoph
Noack that helped me very much and invited me to join the Design Team. Thank you very much guys!
So, if you want to know more about me, here a short of my professional experience. In 2008's last
months I and some colleagues became part of a research grounp about usability and accessibility
under the guidance of two teachers. Our goal was analise the University's website and propose a new
design of interface. We worked hard for one year, since the first online survey to know the
previous site's problems, user test and card sorting analysis, passing by many creation steps,
until the user tests on the website already online. We used some capturing softwares like Morae and
at last an online survey to comparation purposes. It was an amazing experience and I learned a lot
along the process. The resulting website [4] was rewarding and has good users feedback.
Parallel to this, I worked on a interface for a Conference's website and the UI of its papers submission
system [6] with our team of the "Linked" Junior Enterprise. I think this two projects gave me some
practical and teorical - although very initial - knowledge about UI design. And by my whole life I worked (as
amateur) with graphical programs like Photoshop, Gimp, Inkscape and Blender.
And of course, I'm a big fan of the singer Shania Twain and the most part of my works [my old
portfolio - 7] was inspirated by her! :D I also have a personal website dedicated to her [8].
English is not a language I dominate so much, but I actually hope to take part of LibreOffice's
development. And I ask your help (and patience) to find the best way to do that. :) I hope become
myself a deserver of your support.
