hi,
in ms word, typing math equations was very easy. i use to do it in 2 ways.
the first one is by pressing alt+equals which creates what's called an
"equation box" or something where i can input math by using latex (which
i didn't prefer) or a latex like format which is similar to latex but
much less strict syntax. like i could just type sin press space and type
\theta and press space to type sine theta
or stuff like (\del y)/(\del x) for dy/dx or 1/2 for 1/2
it would also let me move around the equation using just the way you
work with any other text using arrows and it would provide start / end
of specific regions that makes editing easy.
or for complex math, i can convert it back to the original code by right
clicking and choosing linear equation and then edit that easily before
converting it back to 2d form
this also works inline allowing me to put math between texts extremely
quickly and edit it like any other other text.
the other method i use is for inserting symbols quickly. I have to
enable this option, but it lets you input symbols using the same code
you use inside the math region like \pi or \phi
this doesn't create any boxes but just put the Unicode character of that
symbols. this doesn't work with the complex equations though.
is there something similar to this in libre office?
if not, can we add something similar?
the only once i can find online is to insert equations using the formula
object which sure i can insert, but good luck reading it again. or using
equations on the fly or even making quick changes.
it's extremely frustrating to use and could never be used when quick
note taking or timed exams.
any help would be appreciated.
i'd prefer using libre office cause it's way more quicker than ms office
and is clean
but these things make it impossible for me and other blind people to
switch unless the only thing they do is basic formatting and tables.
thanks for any help
p.s, i really wish microsoft would actually optimize their software more
instead of bloating it up
