Hello,

from the results of the first two days, we definitely can say that the
new download page is a huge success. From a gut feeling, I'd say we are
seeing an increase by factor 5-10, which confirms the experiences other
projects have made.

Be advised that it is not about nagging the user, not at all - but as
the feedback we received confirms, many people simply do not read the
donation request and the information that TDF needs money, unless you
prominently show it during the download, the very moment when the user
"receives" something from the project. Despite concrete funding goals,
where we received a lot of donations, this so far proofs to be the most
effective way of fundraising for us.

The approach definitely needs improvements, no doubts, especially about
downloading help pack and language files, and I have just seen Goran's
proposal, which really looks like a very good compromise.

I was in Berlin for the last two days and am on my way home, but I will
follow-up later next week with details on how to process.

Thanks again everyone for your help and feedback,
Florian

Congrats on the results of the test!

Cheers,

Marc
