Hello all,
Microsoft put out a three-page document that hits on some of the weaknesses
of LO (and bundles LO with OOo):

Is there some materials that can explain the strong points of LO and offer
counter-arguments to what MS says ?
Some of the key points would be:
- lack of calendaring/email
- collaboration tools
- pivot tables

Echoing others;
The three issues picked appear to be only applicable to a relatively
small subset of users. I use LO almost daily for both business and
personal use. Most of the "issues" I have are how is the feature
implemented in LO versus other suites. Layout of the menus and how a
feature is implemented differ but the feature is there. One can
endlessly argue over whose implementation of a specific feature is
"better" but the feature is there.
My understanding about collaboration tools is that most want to track
the changes and their originator and insert comments. LO does this.
Pivot tables are supported, the implementation may differ but the
results are the same. When I use pivot tables, which is very rare, I
must look up how to set them up in any spreadsheet.
The lack of calender/email is because there is no built in email client
but some ability to email is built in. Personally, I never found the
"integration" of Outlook with MSO to be very good or useful. Actually
IMHO the "integration" of Outlook in MSO is more trouble than it is
worth. Other programs work just as well for my email and calendering and
were considerably cheaper (free).
