本件ですが、一旦masterに対して:

Alignを「整列」にして、Arrangeを「配置」にする

ということにします。

いつも勉強させてもらっています。

Arrange の訳としての「配置」はやはり、違う何かを当てた方が良い気がしますが
良いアイデアがありません。

参考にならないかもしれませんが、Scribus では

- Align 整列
   + 複数のオブジェクトを「端」や「中央」が揃う(1直線になる)ように移動させること
   + ※段落スタイルの Align は未翻訳ですが、複数の段落をと読み替えると、
     整列でも悪く無さそう。
- Distribute 配置 (LibreOffice では「分布」だったり「均等割付」だったり)
   + 複数のオブジェクトを平面的に均等に並べること(端・隙間基準)
- Level レベル(だいぶ苦し紛れのような)
   + 重なった複数のオブジェクトの順序を並べ替えること

となっていました

# KDE では Align は「配置」「揃え」「整列」、Arrange は「配置」「整列」が

原文も原文で、英語ネイティブの人でも、目的語を足さないと
(Align と) Arrange が何を指しているのかよくわからないのではないかと
思えてきました。

見直しましょう。別に現訳文に固執するわけではありませんので。


それで改めて他のソフトがどうなっているか調べたところ、Microsoft
Office 2010は、縦横を揃える機能はAlign、前後の重なりを入れ替える機能は、
その機能を含むグループがArrangeとなっていましたが、訳語は共に「配置」(!)
になっていました。

Adobe Illustratorは、縦横を揃える機能はAlignで訳語は「整列」、前後の重
なりを入れ替える機能はArarngeで訳語は「アレンジ」(!)となっていました。

自分が見た限りでは、Align=整列=縦横の位置を揃える機能が多いようなので、
Alignを「整列」にして、Arrangeを「配置」にするのがよいのかなという印象を
受けました。



Writer にテキストの揃え位置を設定するメニューがあります。ちなみに文字を中央揃え
にしたいときは、6.0 ですと [書式]-[配置]-[中央揃え] と進むのですが、この「配置」
の原文は、実は "Align" です。このことを踏まえ、あくまで個人的語感ですが次のよう
に思います。

1.「整列」の後にオブジェクトの前後の位置関係を指定する項目が来るのおかしい。
  2. テキストの揃え位置の場合 "Align" =「配置」でも違和感を感じない。
  3. 複数の図形オブジェクトを選択しそれらの位置を揃える場合、「配置」よりも「整
列」のほうがしっくりくる気がするが、案外「配置」でも大丈夫なのかもしれない。
以上のことから、今回のケースで位置を揃える機能の呼び名としての「整列」は異論ない
のですが、前後の位置関係を指定する機能の呼び名として「配置」が妥当かどうか疑問が
残るところです。「配置」の持つ意味が大きすぎて、機能を言い表すには直感性に欠ける
のではないかと。
皆さんはどうお考えになりますか?
