いさな さんの返信を参考に、こちらでも再度やってみました。
入力できました、当方の勘違いでした
いさな さんのおっしゃるとおり
入力時のカーソルが左側の図形枠にかぶってしまって、分からない状態になっていました。
文字入力すると、すんなりと入力できました。

体調不良・お大事に！
ダブルクリックでは、デフォルトの段落配置が左寄せとなっていて、かつテキス
トアンカーが境界との間隔0mmの全幅設定になっているため、テキストカーソル
が外形線にへばりついて視認が難しい状態なのが気にはなりました。無視して
キーを打てば文字は入ります。6.2.2でも同様でした。
Calcではデフォルトの段落配置が中央寄せのようで、テキストカーソルも容易に視認できるようです。
まさに、上記の状態で悩んでいました！
文字を入力してみればよかったんですね、お騒がせしました。
