Hi Keith, Ben, Christian, et al

See if I can add some value here.

Keith hits on a very strong point for Drupal in lots of environments,
IMO.

But - and it is IMO a big one.

The OO.o site is not really one that I recognize as being close to any
other, with the exception of...My Space...remember them.

How could I say that.

The OO.o site is really a collection of sites, each created by and
managed by, small groups of people, with widely varying skill levels in
designing web sites.

Where a Drupal is strong on helping to bring a commonality across a
number of sites, these language groups at OO.o would put in much time
and recruit help to, subvert these constraints an to the greatest extent
possible give the language group (team) autonomy for their little slice
of the OO.o web site.

I think I've stated that correctly - and I ask that because the work of
building out and maintaining that monster over the last 10 years was not
something I worked in - but some of the people adding comments to this
list, and the de list on this subject, where some of those people.

So there is I think from reading along a difference in perspective about
what is the most important features for this particular web service in
the new TDF domain.

Anyway - I've tried to stay out the mix here, cause you guys are the
ones that that would ultimately be working this, and again the actual
_users_ of the CMS are going to be these, yet unformed perhaps, small
groups of volunteers.

Just putting that out there because I'm not sure that Keith and
Christian are on same page requirements wise. My little daydream about
an enterprise workflow engine didn't really help, because that kind of
functionality is really missing the point. This heavey emphasis on
allowing rather unskilled people to produce widely varying web sites,
and they really can be, both in appearance and User Interaction patterns
is something that _will_ be neeeded, not just a like.

Again, that is how I am seeing it - if I'm misrepresenting the thoughts
of the language team needs please correct me vigorously.

Thanks - back to lurking

Drew
