Thank you so much for implementing this.

This is now implemented. It was definitely not a 5 minute task, but a
veritable rabbit hole. I even reported a bug to Chromium on a new
feature that some people promoted as a solution to the slimming of
sticky navs, but that apparently needs more polish in browser code.
Now the slimming is done with "scroll-driven animations", which are
not yet enabled by default in Firefox, but can be enabled in FF by
setting this to true in about:config:
layout.css.scroll-driven-animations.enabled
Firefox tracking bug:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1676780
The nav does not become sticky on mobile as it would need a complete
redesign.

I think I'll want to make the nav slimmer when we've scrolled down,
so this type of styling and the need to consider all the NN Group
advice means that it will not be a 5 minute task.

Hi all,
It is possible that the menu bar on the new website will be a
floating bar, so that as the user navigates, the bar follows them,
eliminating the need to scroll back to the top to access other menus.
The nav can be made sticky, but the implementation should be done
carefully, see this for example: https://www.nngroup.com/articles/
sticky-headers/
