A small update: I got lots of tips on #mediawiki from Izno and now the module has been improved (uses less server resources, for example). I created a wrapper template for the module, so now the call is done like this:
{{Calc_fn_name|IF|{{PAGELANGUAGE}}}}
In the future, we can get rid of that last language argument, if this
