Is an upgrade of MediaWiki in the cards soon? Looks like it would fix
a (minor) irritation of mine:
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49017
it's not in the works at the moment - upgrading the wiki usually needs some
further work, as some extensions may break, rendering some sites unusable.
How urgent would you see fixing of the above bug?
Objective evaluation of the bug probably pegs the number of users who
notice the flaw at (1), so I'll let you do the math on urgency :-)
I hope to team-up with Dennis and poke at the wiki more in the coming
month; perhaps an upgrade will come out of whatever he and I
accomplish.
Cheers,

From my experience the email bug is not really a problem. If you check
the recent changes (
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&days=30&from=&limit=500&namespace=2&associated=1
max. 30 days; max 500 edits in the user and the User talk namespace) the
number of edits are very limited and mostly caused by me (^^) or by log
actions (new user/deletion log).
Well, just for the case we get a test wiki (
https://redmine.documentfoundation.org/issues/171 ) we would be able to
test if the update really solves the bug, but we would also able to
check if we could use some additional extensions (semantic web;
translation wiki(dunno the correct name of that extension), I18nTags
(redmine#235); mass delete of revisions and spam accounts, maybe more).
Depending on the access and (of course) my private time, I would also do
the installation part on the test server and testing the upgrade. (not
setting up the test server, only the MediaWiki parts!)
Regards,
Dennis R.
