I tried the uploading twice, and both times I got the blank screen after 
I press the button to upload it.  While I still had the blank screen, I 
opened another "tab" and was able to view the JPG file[s] I uploaded.

So that part happened twice.

I always open another tab in Firefox to deal with the uploading while I 
have the original tab on the page I am editing.

I just edited a line on my User page and it did NOT give me a blank 
screen.  So I do not know what to say, except I just tried the original 
page and I still got a blank screen when I pressed the button to save 
it.  I get no "waiting" message, or anything like that.

Just to be clear
I run Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit with MATE as the desktop environment and 
Firefox 27.0.
